A new journal paper for AFC4Hydro has just been published on the peer-reviewed open access journal Energies.
The article entitled: “On the Rotating Vortex Rope and Its Induced Structural Response in a Kaplan Turbine Model” was written by our members Rafel Roig, Xavier Sánchez-Botello and Xavier Escaler from Barcelona Fluids & Energy Lab (UPC); and Berhanu Muluand Carl-Maikel Högström, from Vattenfall AB.
In the article are analysed the results obtained during our first measurement campaign in Älvkarleby. Studies of the rotating vortex rope’s excitation levels and the induced structural responses were carried out on a Kaplan turbine model (which is a replica of the experimental 10 MW Porjus U9 prototype machine).
