On Wednesday the 4th of March, Joel Sundström from LTU visited workshop company Tooltech located in Töre 50 km north of Luleå. Tooltech will manufacture some of the essential parts of the down-scaled turbine test rig that is currently being designed at LTU, including the spiral casing, guide vanes and stay vanes and the draft tube. The test rig will be used as the first test case for the injection of pulsating momentum in the draft tube to mitigate pressure fluctuations resulting from the rotating vortex rope.
Technical solutions and manufacturing methods were discussed during the meeting, and the goal is to finalize the design during week 11 and that manufacturing can take place in early April.
